A lighthouse is on the left side of the channel. The Livingstone Channel project of the early 1900s created a 19-km channel in the limestone bedrock sill at the mouth of the Detroit River with a minimum width and depth of 91 m and 6.7 m, respectively. Recorded in glass negative ledger: "D/Localities-St. Clair Flats, Livingston [sic] channel."
