Head long view of High School, on streets buildings include A. Pixley Furniture, Mattresses, Bedding store, Lung Sin Chinese Laundry, Good Templars, Good Samaritans and Sons of Temperance Hall, also, a sign for Wooten's Patent Office Desks, and horse-drawn carriages. Large piece missing from lower right corner. Also have print from negative. Printed on albumen cabinet card back: "[New ser]ies. Panoramic and cabinet sketches, in and about the city of Detroit. [text covered] Photographed and published by Jex Bardwell, 31 Monroe Avenue." Typed on label on card back: "Old Detroit high school at head of Griswold Street, where Capitol Park is now located. Formerly the state capitol building, but remodeled for school purposes." Handwritten on card back: "About 1875. 34. [covered text] 1893." Recorded in glass negative ledger: "D/Schools-High, 1893."
