Description
Statue of Stevens T. Mason, first governor of Michigan, designed by Albert Weinert and installed in Capitol Park at Griswold Ave. and State Street in 1908. In the background are Tietze-Milo Dyeing and Cleaning Co., a U.S. Navy Recruiting Station, Walker and Co., John Mabley Clothing store, Nathan Finley and Co. Tailors, cars, horse-drawn wagons and an electric light. Recorded in glass negative ledger: "D/Monuments-Mason, Stevens T., 1st gov. Mi[chigan]."
