Firemen's Hall on Larned and Bates
View of the (old) Firemen's Hall on Larned and Bates, with the date, "1839" above building name. The hall was erected in 1839 and torn down in 1872. Signs include: C. Govin, merchant tailor; J.W. Ezekiel, auction & commision; C.R. Brand; house & sign painter. Also have print from negative. Printed on cabinet card back: "Photographic sketches, in and about the city of Detroit. Consisting of street and marine views, public buildings, churches, monumental and other objects of interest. Photographed and published by Jex Bardwell." Handwritten on cabinet card back: "Old fire men's hall, N. Larned on alley, 1870. See Silas Farmer, History of Detroit, v.1, p.506." Glass negative is cracked in upper right. Recorded in glass negative ledger: "LD/Buildings-Firemen's hall."
