Handwritten on mat back: "By post June, Mr. Sherrard who married Berry (Mrs. Lodge, Mrs. Hayward Hoyt, Sherrard); Miss Miner-taught Greek and Latin, to right of '89; Rudolph F. Flintermann, right of post, 3rd row left; Augusta Durfee Flintermann, 3rd [4th crossed out] to right of [R.F.F.], 3rd row center. 'The High School' by Capitol Park on the west side of Woodward. State Street between Rowland and Gridwold, 1889." Handwritten on duplicate mat front: "[?] school, graduating class, June 1889." Handwritten on duplicate mat back: "This was the only hight school building [?]. It stood on Griswold Street in triangle known as Capitol Park." Partial chart of names on duplicate back. Photograph worn on edges and corners; mat unevenly cut on left; stained at bottom; cracked on right. Duplicate photograph and mat torn and crumbling.
