House viewed across snowy street. Construction site on left with men on sidewalk. Other buildings in background. Embossed on mat front: "C.M. Hayes & Co., photographer, Detroit." Handwritten on mat back: "Fox, Charles E., 21 Bagley Avenue, Detroit, Michigan. Taken after excavation had begun (at left) for Hotel Statler and after demolishment of residence (at right) to provide for alley from alley in rear to Bagley Ave. Dec. 14, 1951. The above lines were written by my mother, Emma A. Fox. '21 Bagley Avenue' is now 139 Bagley Ave., location of Automobile Club. Maurice W. Fox." Water damage on mat; corner broken.
