Line of buildings at Larned and Shelby. Greek-style building in foreground with pillars, houses next to it. Printed on back: "New series panoramic and cabinet sketches, in and about the city of Detroit. Photographed and published by Jex Bardwell, 31 Monroe Ave." Handwritten on back: "Lafayette Ave., Unitarian Ch[urch], n.w. cor. Lafayette & Shelby, present site of Recreation Bldg, 1921. Occupied as church till 1888 (?), then used as Philharmonic Hall till 1905."
