Opera house viewed at an angle from street. Horse-drawn vehicles. Signs include: Newcomb, Endicott & Co.; Grover & Baker, sewing machines; Odd Fellows Hall; pianos, organs and melodeons. Printed on label on card back: "Photographic sketches, in and about the city of Detroit. Consisting of street & marine views, public buildings, churches, monumental and other objects of interest. Photographed and published by Jex Bardwell." Handwritten on label on card back: "Opera house, Detroit, Mich. 1871."
