Coal dock viewed from land; railroad tracks over piles of coal to dranes by river. Two-masted sailing cargo ship by dock. Handwritten on card back: "Pittman's coal dock. 1883. On River foot Riopelle St." 1882 Detroit City Directory gives firm address as 94 Griswold, with yard at the foot of Riopelle. Photograph chipping at edges; has some water damage.
