Description
House with balustraded porch across front, two wings off main block. Viewed at an angle across lawn, leafless tree in frame, evergreens by house. Handwritten on mat front: "House erected by Gov. Porter but not completed until after his death in 1834." Stamped on mat back: "A. Godfrey & Co., commercial photographers, 41 W. Fort Street, Detroit, Mich." Handwritten on mat back: "'Gov. Geo. B. Porter ... passed away at the brick house, then in spring [missing] he was erecting ..." It was afterwards occupied by the late Sylvester Larned.' Palmer - Early [Days in Detroit?] N.e. corner Woodbridge St. & 24th." Corner broken off mat.
