Description
Colonial-style building, with shuttered windows, pillared entrance. Additional wings in back and on left side of house. Left side of building has wrap-around porch. Handwritten on back: "Gen. Lewis Cass's old homestead." Handwritten on back of duplicate: "Old residence of Gen. Lewis Cass, N.W. cor. Fort St. & Cass St., 1870; built 1840, removed in 1876." Printed on back: "New series, panoramic and cabinet sketches in and about the city of Detroit, photographed and published by Jex Bardwell, 31 Monroe Avenue."
