C.I.M. Co freighter "Pontiac" at Sault Ste. Marie
View of the freighter "Pontiac" (1889) with "C.I.M. Co." lettered on side, at Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan. The Pontiac (1889) was sunk in collision with Canadian passenger steamer Athabaska, in St. Marys River, on July 18, 1891.The Athabasca, upbound, arrived at the Soo with the Pontiac's foredeck balanced atop her own. The Pontiac was raised, repaired and returned to service. Printed on front of photo: "W.J. Bell, photo, Sault, Mich." Printed on photo back: "W.J.
