View of tablet commemorating Fort Pontchartrain, located at the northwest stairway to the Veteran's Memorial Building. Inscription reads: "Near this site was the gateway through the Palisade surrounding Fort Pontchartrain du Detroit. Founded July 24, 1701 by Antoine de la Mothe Cadillac, to hold 'The Strait' for France. Placed 1951 by Fort Pontchartrain Chapter. Daughters of the American Revolution."
