Description
View of bronze tablet marking the site of Fort Pontchartrain, installed at the southwest corner of Griswold and Jefferson. Inscription reads: "Near this site was the gateway through the Palisade surrounding Fort Pontchartrain du Detroit. Founded July 24, 1701 by Antonine de la Mothe Cadillac, to hold 'The Strait' for France. Placed 1951 by Fort Pontchartrain Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution."
