Plaque on back of James J. Brady Monument
View of plaque on back of monument dedicated on June 23, 1928 to James J. Brady, founder of the Old Newsboys Association, located on Belle Isle at Central and Inselruhe Avenues. Monument was designed by Samuel A. Cashwan and Fred O'Dell. Inscription reads: "This monument was sponsored by the Old Newsboys Goodfellow Fund of Detroit and paid for by popular subscription. Officers: Ernest P. LaJoie, president; Walter I. McKenzie, 1st Vice President; Herman A. Schmier, 2nd Vice President; Nathan Samuels, Secretary; Herman W. Schmem, Treasurer. Board of Directors: David A. Borwn, James W. Bishop, Herman Lieberman, Wm. A. Parris, Robert Y. Ogg, Wm. Gutman, Geo. J. Hunter, Jos. W. Brady, A. Peter Kennedy, Fred T. Grenell. The cooperation of the members of the Detroit Fire Department is gratefully acknowledged, dedicated June 23, 1928."
