Log cabin at Palmer Park
View of two-story log cabin at Palmer Park with garden bed on lawn in foreground. Printed on front: "Log cabin, Palmer Park, Detroit, Mich., 105979." Printed on back: "Palmer Park, Detroit, Michigan. Palmer Park, the city's second most popular park, was donated to the city of Detroit in 1893 by Thos. W. Palmer and Lizzie Merrill Palmer, his wife. This comprised 140 acres and was augmented in 1919 by an additional 147 acres which the people voted for on a bond issue. A large portion of the park is undeveloped. The park has a log cabin, which contains many heirlooms of the old Palmer and Merrill families. There is an old windmill placed there when the log cabin was the residence of Senator Palmer for the purpose of supplying water to the little lakes and this gives a picturesque effect. C.T. Co., Chicago."
