Waterworks Park
Aerial view of Waterworks Park, showing grounds and Hurlbut library branch of the Detroit Public Library. Belle Isle in Detroit River in distance. Printed on front: "Birds'-eye view, Waterworks Park, Detroit, Mich." Printed on back: "Bird's-eye view, Water Works Park. The 72-acre plot of ground of Jefferson Avenue, owned by the city and partially occupied by its water works pumping station, has been made one of Detroit's beauty spots. The water supply is pumped throught a long tunnel from the intake pipe in Lake St. Clair to the distributing point. The ponderous machinery can pump 103,000,000 gallons of water in 24 hours. This view was taken from the tower, showing the library in lower left corner and Belle Isle in the distance." Handwritten on back in upper right corner: "7/30/10."
