View of steamer "Walk-in-the-Water" on Detroit River in 1820. Men and women stand on shore. Printed on front: "Detroit in 1820." Handwritten on back: "Dear Lauretta, your card just received & I haven't anything to do so I will answer it. Hope you are feeling better. Twelve girls were laid off up at Hudson's till the 1st of April. I would just love to come up & will if I can & if you will meet me sometime on Saturday. Answer real soon, your same old friend, Bessie. Mother sent me my piano, it is on the way here." Card is postmarked March 7, 1917.
