Washington Boulevard is a fine parkway lined with wonderful shops and at night one of the most brilliantly lighted thoroughfares to be found in any city. Woodward Avenue cuts through the heart of Detroit from the river front northward and beyond to Bloomfield Hills and other suburban districts. It contains many leading commercial establishments including the second largest departmental store in America. Bagley Street is another main artery of downtown Detroit containing many interesting establishments. Grand Circus Park, shown in the foreground is frequently called the semi-circle of splendor.
