Cadillac Square runs east from Campus Martius to county building and was named after the founder of Detroit, Antoine Laumet De La Mothe Cadillac. Cadillac Chair is located on the west, which was formerly the site of the Old City Hall built in 1836 and occupied until 1871 as the seat of civic authority. Cadillac arrived in Detroit July 24, 1701. On that day, under the patronage of Louis XIV, the city of Detroit, then called Fort Pontchartrain, was founded. C.T. Co., Chicago, A-17405." Handwritten on back: "Detroit, Mich. Oct. 18th 1912. Dear friend: rec'd your card and would be pleased to have you come over Sunday 20th to spend the day with me as I will be alone, and it would be hard for me to find your place, or come when you can, as I have lots to tell you. Your friend, Rose." Card is postmarked October 18, 1912.
