Hunter's Whip comprised of the Hunter family home and several hundred acres of Franklin countryside, was the scene of many happy riding and fox hunting parties in the mid-nineteenth century. IN 1883 a west wing was added to the main building which records indicate was built in 1823. The building was used mostly as a home until, in 1958, it was completely redecorated for a [sic] eating place showing the original sturdy oak beams in the south dining room. Mary & Richard Nelson.
