Description
Detroit Fire Department engine house (Engine Company #4) on Eighteenth St. near Howard. Small building with watchtower, white picket fence; a group of men and one small boy pose in front. Handwritten on back: "Engine house 1881, 18th St. near Howard St.; see Farmer, Silas, History of Detroit, v. 1, p. 515; Engine 4 built May 1897, disbanded March 1976."
