Gabby Street, traded from Washington to New York for first baseman Jack Knight, first donned the mask and big glove in his home town at Huntsville, Ala, in 1901. From Huntsville he next started with Clarksville in the Kentucky-Tennessee League in 1903, and from there went to Terre Haute, Cincinnati, San Francisco and back to Washington. He is now Ford's battery partner with New York, alghough he won fame at Washington where in 1911, he hit .222, fielded .973, and caught a ball tossed from the top of Washington Monument. Recruit ... "
