Home of Ulysses S. Grant decorated in mourning
Description:
Clapboard house, viewed at an angle between two others on unpaved street, with bunting over window shutters, doorway, and fence and portrait between upper windows. Grant occupied the residence on Fort Street from 1849 to 1851. Decorated by Union veterans after his death. Recorded in glass negative ledger: "D/Historic houses-Grant, Ulysses S." Emulsion damaged and lifting on edges.
