Handwritten on albumen print stock back: "Old market on Cadillac Square. Central Market Building and city building in the background. Between 1880-1895. This picture was taken probably just after the old city hall was torn down in the fall of 1872. (Burton p.506) Soldiers' Monument was unveiled April 9, 1872. Russell House was enlarged to 5 stories in 1876." Print made from cracked negative, which has marks including tape marks and scratches. Recorded in glass negative ledger: "LD/Markets-Central."
