View of the Lafayette Street Methodist Episcopal Church, a wooden building that was moved from its original location on Woodward Avenue and Congress and dedicated anew in 1849, the last mass was held in 1873, with a Victorian house next door and a view of the street. Removed to Lafayette Ave. and Fourth St., 1849. Sold and vacated, 1873." Handwritten on albumen cabinet card back: "Old Lafayette St. M.E. Church, N.E. cor. Lafayette & Fourth in 1873. This church building was erected and for many years was on the northeast corner of Woodward Ave. & Congress Sts." Recorded in glass negative ledger: "D/Churches-Meth. Ep.-Lafayette Ave."
