Second Empire brick house with mansard roof. Viewed from street at an angle across sidewalk and metal fence; leafless trees; lamppost; other buildings visible. Girl standing by gate. Handwritten on mat back: "W.G. Thompson, 478 Jefferson Ave., 1881. Built in 1876 (see Farmer - Hist. of Detroit ... p. 386)." 1928 newspaper article about planned demolition on mat back.
