Description:
National Hotel and saloon on site of City Hall built in 1871. Handwritten on photograph front: "S. side Mich. Ave., site of present City Hall. National Hotel. Saloon on corner kept by F.F. Eglinton" plus street names around buildings "Woodward, Michigan, Griswold, Academy." Handwritten on mat back: "From dauguerreotype owned in Burton Historical Collection, and probably taken by A.W. Abraham, see Detroit Free Press, July 17, 1866. C.M. Burton. Glass negative 1786." Typed on label on mat back: "Detroit City Hall site, April 1865. Enlargement (framed) made by Van Leyen & Hensler, lithographers."
