Parade, University of Michigan Triennial County Fair
Description:
View of students participating in a parade for the University of Michigan Triennial County Fair in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Row of men in foreground, wearing tam o'shanters, hold drums and cymbals; row of men directly in back of the group wear barrels. Two costumed men on horseback on right. Horse-drawn wagon carries several women wearing large picture hats. Horse-drawn float on far left displays a "$200 Yale motorcycle raffle, chances 10 [cents], drawing Sat." Spectators and judges' stand in background. These fairs were held every three years by the Michigan Union, a male-only organization, although fifty different student organizations participated. Funds raised were intended to construct a clubhouse for the Union.
