The production stars Maria Ewing in the title role, Ragnar Ulfung as Herod, Marvalee [sic] Cariaga as Herodias and Michael Devlin as Jokanaan. John Bury designed the production and Elizabeth Kean is the choreographer. 'Salome' is the third opera of the inaugural season of the Los Angeles Music Center Opera, Peter Hemmings, Executive Director. The season includes productions of Verdi's 'Othello' (10/7, 10/10, 10/13), Puccini's 'Madame Butterfly' (10/8, 10/11, 10/14), both at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion, Handel's 'Alcina' (11/4, 11/6, 11/8) and Gershwin's 'Porgy and Bess' (2/19-3/1), both at the Wiltern Theatre.
