View of man changing tire of Oldsmobile car watched by boy wearing overalls. Banner with "St. Louis Tour, 53, A.A.A." displayed on side of car. Typed on back: "Touring in the old days provided many a hazard for the first automotive pilots. With only 150 miles of paved road in the nation, and practically no local gas station to assist in in minor repairs, the pioneering tourist had no recourse but to 'get out and get under.' New York to St. Louis Tour for the 1904 World's Fair. The car is an Oldsmobile light tonneau driven by D.B. Huss accompanied by F. Ed. Spooner, photographer, on the tour. For more details on the Tour, see Horseless Age, July 27, 1904, page 94, and August 17, 1904, page 165." Handwritten on back: "Oldsmobile, 1904. Diamond tires were used. From the Horseless Age, July 27, 1904, p. 94. Olds tonneau, driver D.B. Huss; passenger F. Ed. Spooner (photographer). [undecipherable] thinks Spooner was changing the tire. Horseless Age, Aug. 17, 1904 p. 165 showed Spooner as entering the car, it finished at St. Louis."
