Description
Ruins of Capitol High School, after it was destroyed by fire in 1893. Outer structure still standing, inner portions of building completely gone. Snow on ground, onlookers gathered around. Label on back: "Ruins of the Detroit High School, on site of Capitol Park, which was burned January 27, 1893." Handwritten on front: "Burning of the Detroit High School." Stamped on back: "From Alvord & Co., exclusively commercial photographers, 55 Rowland St., Detroit, Mich., ground floor."
