Handwritten on back: "Sept. 4th, 1918. Dear Cousin, Received your letter & postal. Thanks for both. Was so glad to hear from you. We went thrashing yesterday. Everything turned out better than what we expected. Oats 517 bu. from 12 A. And wheat 40 bu. We thought we'd get only about 20 or 25 bu. We'll start with the beans today. Monday was the [undecipherable] of our neighbor Mrs. Gail Schultz. Gust Schultz is overseas in England, they received a letter from him last week. He likes it awfully well & he wrote that he enjoyed the trip very much. You may get a box this week yet or the first part of next week. I think your picture is fine I always have to look at it. Hope that I will see you yet before you go further. The good Lord will be with you where ever you are. Will close with love you, Cousin Hattie."
